Te Reo Maori - Mihi

Today in room 7, Mrs Tofa decided we create a mihi for ourselves. In our mihi, it includes our name, culture, parents name and our grandparents name. Here it is below

Winter Olympics 2018

For reading this week we learnt about the Winter Olympics. This year, it was hosted by Pyeongchang in South Korea. Our assignment for this week was to learn more about the hosting country and about the events that were held. Here is a slide I have created to show the events, representatives (NZ), some videos of some of the competitions and the medals list. Which shows who earned the most medals. 

History of Writing

In room 7, we learnt about the history of Writing. When writing I have always thought about computer, keyboard, screen and letters. I never thought about what they used when they didn't have any devices. I did some research and put together a Google Presentation about how writing was back then and the types of writing. A timeline, How writing improved as the years went on.

My Toondoo Creation

Today, at our first day of tech this year we were told to create a Toondoo Comic including your plannig for 2018. In my comic I have added things I haven't learnt to do such as self defence and swimming. Also added myself relaxing and having fun. Here it is below

Healthy Eating

In room 7 today, we were told to pick out one our favourite foods and make a poster about how it was made step by step. This was to show how the food you love was really made. For e.g what was put in it, how it was made and the whole process of it. The food I have chosen (along with some friends) was Potato Chips. I have made a poster with the help of Davarni, Anita and Newsam. Here it is below.

Dye Art

In room 7 we decided to create  flowers filled with patterns and colour dye. We call it Dye Art. In this flower you can use any kind of patterns and colours to make it beautiful. Here is how you make it.

Ingredients/Material

Crayon (Not Pastels)

A piece of A4 paper

A sketching pencil or a normal pencil

Dye (Any colour)

A paint brush

Some Newspaper (Optional)

Instructions

First, just to make it easier you will need to fold your A4 piece of paper into quarters and start sketching out your 4 petals

Now insert your own pattern. Make sure it is not too small.

Pick out 2-3 colours and get them ready for the next step

Take one colour and and use it to go over the outline design

Go over the lines at least once or twice When done get a teacher or adult to help you with the dye part. You will have to dip your paint brush in the dye and then go over the whole flower

Now take your paper and place it somewhere safe to dry

When all dry, cut the whole flower out and arrange flower on cardboard.

What is an active learner?

In room 7 today, we learnt about the values of an active learner. I have created a poster using google drawing and word art using Tagul.  On both images there will words or sentences on what an active learner is.
