Valerie has been the dominant women's shot putter in the world since 2006, only beaten twice in major world events during that period and having an unprecedented winning streak of 56 competitions between 2010 and 2014. She was the IAAF world female athlete of the year for 2014.
Facts:
- Adams is one of only nine athletes to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event. She is the first woman to win four consecutive individual titles at the world track and field championships.
- Valerie has a brother who is a professional basketball player who now plays for the Oklahoma city.
- Her and the rest of her family was born in Rotorua New Zealand. Her mum Lilika is Tongan and an English father Sydney "Sid".
